LG BH100, Preview
LG have successfully straddled the great HD-DVD/Blu-ray divide with this revolutionary player, revealed for the first time at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Undoubtedly the star attraction at the show, the BH100 performed the dual-playback trick live, during a demo before a gathering of World media press.
Coming in at a very competitive price point, below some purely Blu-ray players, it's being hailed as an answer to the bitter struggle for supremacy in establishing the next generation High Definition DVD standard. Apart from its unique dual-playback abilities the "Super Multi Blue Player" offers all the usual tricks, Full 1080P through HDMI (1.2), Standard DVD upscaling to 1080i and Interactive functions based on BD-Java. Unfortunately the lack of HD-DVD interactivity is a blow and to some marks the player out as not being a completely true HD-DVD deck.
Audio wise, it supports Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, DTS-HD and 5.1 Channel Analogue Audio out. See links page for full specs. No reviews yet.
Available in the US this month for $1,199. No availability in the UK at present.
